The military is a fundamental part of who I am today. I would not have been able to get an engineering degree without the financial and motivational help the military provided for me. It allowed me and my family opportunities we would never have gotten and allowed me a new sense of appreciation for this large and diverse country.
I spent six years in active duty Air Force. I was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2013. During that time, I went from only having worked fast food to managing small groups and running whole shift operations for the logistics side of jet aircraft maintenance.
While a military career was not a viable long term solution for our family, I am proud of my service and have only the highest esteem for those who have served or are still serving in the United States military. I want to thank the many leaders and mentors I had over those years, it has changed my life immensely.
